Hayden Zissis, a 12-year old from Canonsburg, will paint and install benches at the elementary schools in the Canon McMillan School District. The Buddy Benches are meant to encourage students to include their peers during recess, serving as a place for children to go when they don’t have anyone to play with. Hayden will decorate the bench with handprints of students and the words “Buddy Bench” and will go to the schools to teach the elementary students the purpose of the bench after it is installed.
